Dominic Mulder made the short animation documentary, Huisje, Boompje, Beestje, which tells the bizarre story of his childhood. His childhood was characterized by the polyamorous relationship his parents were having. By interviewing his family for the first time he comes to terms in what way he was affected by the choices of his parents. Huisje, Boompje, Beestje unravels family secrets which will give a unique insight into how romantic relations have an effect on family life and how these effects don’t blow over in one generation.

“It was an experiment, but ended up lasting for 11 years.” – My dad.
I have been fleeing my parents’ house as long as I can remember. When I was 11 my parents decided to bring two other people into the house. They were supposed to be new friends of our parents. Both my brother and I were soon to find out that this wasn’t the case, at least the ‘friends’ part of it.
Through archive material, shot by my parents, and several styles of animation we learn of the decisions and consequences of my family.
