This project is an act of retribution. It zooms in on the sudden uprise of political figures during crisis time in Europe, and zooms out, on the misrepresentation of Buddha as a non-religious decorative item in the west.

More and more often we find our world leaders popping up in the centre of our living room, but for what cause? To create balance in our lives? Or simply to bring a sense of tranquillity? Because the thing is, we already assigned that job years ago to the depiction of a religious leader, which we downgraded to be our mental housekeeper.
Sculptures
I handcrafted sculptures, using new 3D technologies and old Ceramic applications, to create a new symbol: a ‘Readymade Rectifié’. Combining the oppressed and the oppressor, realizing a material confrontation.
Webshop
The last thing an object of art should be is unattainable. I’ve set up a somewhat satirical webshop for people to order their own Divine Leader, including placement policy. You can find the webshop here.
AR(T) Exhibition
Art deserves to be exhibited. But where do you exhibit it, when the world is fighting a pandemic and we’re in the middle of a lockdown?
