Running on Empty

Supporting Emptying Out is the thesis, ‘Running on Empty’ in which the relationship between consumerism, insatiability and mobile applications is explored. Through various media and arts references the (over)consumerist culture is analyzed and the thesis questions the alternatives to this culture: mindfulness, minimalism and self-tracking.

Are these alternatives effective or do they fall into the same capitalist system? Can you really change your short-term thinking using a meditation app? How did we come to this point of always wanting more?
