Textile is created by using knitting or weaving techniques. This causes the yarn to become one whole which makes its travelled way untraceable. That is why the ‘yarn drawing technique’ is invented. With this technique, a whole new pattern, texture and feeling for textile are created by literally drawing with the yarn.

For this technique, there was an attachment piece designed for the CNC Miller. This piece presses the yarn onto self-adhesive plastic, where afterwards fusible interfacing is attached to the drawing by heating it. The attachment piece can not move freely, which renders it unable to make sharp turns. The tapestry is a visualization of this technique: the shape is organic and the open holes are due to these sharp turns. The pattern is drawn by using one yarn, this way it can be followed from the beginning to the end.
